Of all the movies coming out this year, “Prometheus” was the one I was looking forward to the most. I expected it to be the next great sci-fi film and to explore the origins of man and the mythology of the “Alien” franchise. To paraphrase a line from the movie, “I was wrong. I was so wrong.”

Parking on the Square is a struggle that city residents and students alike face every day. Earlier this month, the Board of Aldermen held a public hearing to discuss a new change that could very well happen to Oxford’s historic downtown – paid parking on the Square.

During John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in the 1960s, Kennedy found himself under a great deal of scrutiny because of his Roman Catholic background.  Many Republicans attacked Kennedy by saying that if he became president, he would be too heavily influenced by the papacy.  Many feared that this influence would affect the way he would lead the country and would jeopardize America’s longstanding freedom of religion.

Rooster Blues is a self-described, Hattiesburg-based brother-duo that hails from the birthplace of rock ’n roll. These Jimi Hendrix acolytes have been laying down their blend of blues, funk, jazz and good old-fashioned rock ‘n roll into an electrifying live show since 2003. Since then, they’ve recorded three albums and picked up a bluegrass flavor to their style.

“Dance like there’s no tomorrow.” This clichéd quote is one that I include in my life as often as possible. If you ask any of my friends, they will quickly tell you that I absolutely love to dance. Hopefully, they’ll tell you that I’m an extremely good dancer, too.

Do you remember that thing called Initiative 26 from this past November? You know, the one that wanted to take away women’s rights, outlaw abortion and essentially outlaw contraceptives? This is also the initiative that was rejected by more than 55 percent of Mississippians.

Rick Santorum is a sick, sick man.

Not sick in the head, mind you. Well, OK, he might be sick in the head. He does seem just a tad “dead on the inside” to me. But he’s definitely sick to his stomach. And I don’t think it’s because his sweater-vests are too tight.
