Since 1950, November has had more than 220 tornadoes in the state of Mississippi.

The month is second only to April, which has produced 341 tornadoes in Mississippi between 1950 and 2011, according to data published by the National Weather Service sourced from studies conducted by the National Climatic Data Center.

Ben Schott, warning coordination meteorologist at the National Weather Service for areas including northern Mississippi, said he believes that history indicates Mississippians need to prepare for severe weather.

The Mississippi “fall” weather brought a warm spell on Friday. We changed our attire to fit our needs, as the temperature spiked up to the 80s. We enjoyed that throwback to the warmer days, a little reminder by the weather like a conversation that didn’t end at goodbye, but kept on going instead. But being that this is Mississippi, we can’t have consistency, and on Saturday night, a storm front came.

Freshman theatre major Jasmine Hawkins, focusing on social issues, said she finds herself agreeing with President Obama’s open stance more than with that of Gov. Mitt Romney.

“It was good,” Freeze said of Wednesday’s energy. “We were a little sloppy in the offensive line, picking up in some of the stuff that (Texas) does. It can cause you some confusion, and they are going to create some negative plays. It’s going to happen. It happens against everyone they play.”

The recent decision to ban smoking on campus at the University of Mississippi has been met with criticism from staff and students alike. The criticism is coming to a head today at 1 p.m. in the Grove when a group, led by two school students, will protest the ban.

The recent decision to ban smoking on campus at the University of Mississippi has been met with criticism from staff and students alike. Chase Bradstreet and Kyle Jones are third-year law students and casual smokers. The duo started a Facebook group called “Smoke Up The Grove” which invites anyone interested to smoke cigars or cigarettes during the protest. The smoking ban will not be fully enforced until Jan. 1, 2013.

The Rebels jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead on a Bo Wallace 25-yard touchdown run. Wallace, who ended the day as Ole Miss’ leading rusher, was 20 of 24 through the air for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception on a tipped ball. He also added 82 rushing yards.
