Several weeks after the announcement that the Kappa Sig fraternity had been indefinitely suspended pending an investigation, the University of Mississippi judicial council has made a decision on their fate.

The decision will be made public tomorrow, because the council must first meet in the Dean of Students office to confirm their decision, then inform the fraternity before going public.

The Red Cross is often there to help people in need, so when they needed help, members of the Sigma Chi fraternity returned the favor.

Thursday, the pledge class of Sigma Chi helped the Northwest Chapter of the Red Cross move in to its new location just west of campus.  

The new office, located at 2706 West Oxford Loop, covers 17 counties in Northwest Mississippi.

As we close in on the midway point of another semester there a quite a few hot topics that students are talking about around the campus. Parking, our football team, free scantrons, Amendment 26 and when the exact date that it will become fashionable again to wear leggings, XXXXL sweatshirts and rain boots. I'm thinking mid-October.

That said, I am going to take a different route, and talk about an issue that has been untouched as of yet by the campus water-cooler. Intramurals. I'm sticking to the important issues see?

Newly crowned Miss America Teresa Scanlan was given yet another title – Honorary Sweetheart of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Newly crowned Miss America Teresa Scanlan was given yet another title – Honorary Sweetheart of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

She joined the fraternity brothers at their house for a dinner and presentation last night.

The event was put together by Tyler Ellis of Sigma Chi and Sam Haskell, a former Sigma Chi brother and Ole Miss Alumnus. Haskell is currently chairman of The Miss America Organization.

The fraternity has laid roots at the University of Mississippi multiple times throughout the years, and in the fall of 2009, the group returned to campus to start anew.

This year, the number of members has nearly doubled and they are beginning to receive the recognition that they have worked for since day one.

The fraternity has been at Ole Miss on and off throughout the years and came back in the fall of 2009. 

Their numbers have nearly doubled, and they are beginning to receive the recognition they have been striving for since day one.

But the question arises why the members of Sigma Pi chose to be a part of this fraternity starting from the ground up, opposed to the dozen other fraternities on campus.

Ole Miss’ Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega was awarded the 2010 Earle M. Herbert National Friendship Award at the fraternity’s national convention in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 30.

Ole Miss’ Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega was awarded the 2010 Earle M. Herbert National Friendship Award at the fraternity’s national convention in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 30.

The award is presented every two years at the convention to the Alpha Phi Omega chapter with the best overall membership program. The criteria for the award includes training activities and fellowship activities conducted by the chapter for pledges and active members.
