When she and her family were in Pittsburgh this past June, they attended a “Wheelmobile” event at Meadows Racetrack and Casino, she said.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Big East is ready to start adding members after spending the last month and a half losing them.

A person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press the Big East will invite Boise State, Navy and Air Force for football only and SMU, Houston and Central Florida for all sports in upcoming days. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the conference was not ready to announce its plan.

Following a 4-hour meeting behind closed doors this past Tuesday, chairman Warren Erdman announced to the press that the board of curators at the University of Missouri had authorized Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton to explore the idea of leaving the Big 12.

“The board of curators delegates to Chancellor Deaton the authority to take any and all actions necessary to fully explore options for conference affiliation and contracts related thereto which best serve the University of Missouri,” Erdman said Tuesday.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- After more than a year of watching their league get picked apart, leaders of Big 12 Conference finally made a proactive move Thursday by voting to add TCU as early as next season.

It was the first aggressive act by a league desperate to secure its membership amid dramatic shifts in conference affiliation. And if the Horned Frogs join the Big 12, it would be another sharp blow to the Big East, which was expecting to welcome TCU next season.

The ACC announced Sunday that its council of presidents unanimously voted to accept those two schools, a move that increases its membership to 14 and sends the Big East scrambling — again — to replace two of its cornerstone programs.
