I enjoyed a lengthy conversation this past week with a university administrator, simply to catch up and talk about the great things going on at Ole Miss. During that time, I shared with him some of my favorite parts of the university, one of them being the opportunities made available to students. Our university opens all doors to all students, and we each have the tools needed to garner success in four years time.

Parking, our football team, free scantrons, Amendment 26 and when the exact date that it will become fashionable again to wear leggings, XXXXL sweatshirts and rain boots. I'm thinking mid-October.

That said, I am going to take a different route, and talk about an issue that has been untouched as of yet by the campus water-cooler. Intramurals. I'm sticking to the important issues see?

After a disappointing 2010 campaign, the Ole Miss softball team decided to make a change at the helm.

Enter Windy Thees, a native of Mesa, Ariz., and Florida State alum, but most importantly, a coach who knows how to build a program. She was tabbed as the new coach on June 30.

Thees comes to Oxford from the University of Memphis, where she and her staff started the program in 2006 and led the Tigers to their first NCAA Tournament this past season. In her six years, she compiled a 184-154 overall record.
